If you run any kind of computer infrastructure, then you know that keeping track of the details of each server can be difficult. This is even more true if you're running lots of servers or if you work with multiple providers. When you start to outgrow your spreadsheet, it's time to look for something different.
Life After Spreadsheets
My Idlers is a self-hosted web application for displaying, organizing and storing information about your VPS or dedicated servers, shared and reseller hosting, seedboxes, domains, DNS, and other services. Create and categorize your servers, remind yourself about pricing and billing, and use labels to identify which services are running where for quick filtering.
Features
The home page of My Idlers provides an instant overview of your infrastructure, including cost breakdowns, total resource allocation, service count, locations, and providers.
Bench Scripting with YABS
YABS "Yet Another Bench Script" is a simple bash script to estimate Linux server performance using fio, iperf3, and Geekbench. This benchmark tests the performance of all aspects of your system, including processor, RAM, disk performance, and network connectivity. You can use the open-source YABS script to automatically run and update My Idlers with the result.
Benchmark Comparisons Made Easy
After using YABS on more than one server, you can easily select and compare the results of them. This powerful feature makes it really easy to quickly understand the difference between two servers.
Need Something Else?
If you're running more networking and datacenter systems and less cloud servers, you should check out NetBox. More advanced, NetBox makes IPAM and DCIM management easier when managing hundreds or thousands of different nodes across many datacenters.
